Voice of the Poet: Langston Hughes (Book 35 of 100)

I tried to write this review three times, if something happens this time. I’m just going to give up. This one disk Audiobook arrived from my audiobook club yesterday. It was amazing to hear Langston Hughes read his own work and tell stories about it. I never heard Langston’s voice until now on the CD. He was very funny and quite performance orientated, although he’s a page men or what my spoken word buddy Reggie calls a “poet poet”.

We have the same dream to see and write about Africa. He got there on a boat. I hope to get there through the Amy Lowell award.

I rate this book an 8 out of 10. It was funny and quick witted, but it wasn’t what I expected. I would have loved them to just gave a grand narration to one of Langston’s existing texts. That would have gone a 10 or at least a 9.75.
